Concrete pump trailers are typically moved by towing. Equipped with wheels and a traction device, they can be towed by other vehicles like a trailer. At the construction site, workers simply tow the pump truck to the desired location, adjust the support legs, and begin work. This method of movement is convenient and quick, allowing for adjustments based on construction progress and needs to ensure timely delivery of concrete.
Types of vehicles used to tow concrete pump
Tractors: These are the most common towing vehicles. They are powerful and adaptable to various road conditions, capable of towing concrete pumps of varying sizes over long distances. For example, on large construction sites, tractors are often used to move concrete pumps from one construction area to another, often more remote.
Flatbed Trucks: For the large and heavy tow behind concrete pump for sale, flatbed trucks are a good choice. They stably place the pump trailer on a flatbed and transport it to the designated location. During transportation, the flatbed truck provides stable support, reducing vibration and jolting during movement, and ensuring the safety of the equipment. Some heavy concrete pump trailers are often transported across regions using flatbed trucks for long-distance transport.
Does the towing vehicle need a license plate?
If the towing vehicle will be operating on public roads such as highways, it must display a valid license plate. If the towing vehicle is only operating within a construction site and not on public roads, a license plate is generally not required.
Trailer-mounted concrete pump requirements for towing vehicles
Small trailer-mounted concrete pumps: The small lorry mounted concrete pump is relatively small in size and weight, generally requiring a low-powered towing vehicle. For example, light tractors with a displacement of approximately 2.0-3.0L are sufficient to tow small trailer-mounted concrete pumps on ordinary roads and construction sites.
Medium-sized trailer-mounted concrete pumps: Medium-sized trailer-mounted concrete pumps are of moderate weight and size, typically requiring a more powerful towing vehicle. For example, a medium-sized trailer-mounted pump may weigh 5-10 tons, requiring a medium-sized tractor with a 4.0-6.0L engine.
Large trailer-mounted concrete pumps: Due to their large size and weight, large trailer-mounted concrete pumps place extremely high demands on the towing vehicle. Large trailer-mounted pumps can weigh over 10 tons or even more, requiring heavy-duty tractors or flatbed trucks.
Heavy-duty tractors are typically equipped with high-horsepower engines, providing the power to tow large trailer-mounted pumps over complex road conditions. Flatbed trucks, with their large platform and sturdy load-bearing structure, ensure smooth transport of large trailer-mounted pumps to their destination. At some large bridge construction sites, large trailer-mounted concrete pumps are often transported to the construction site using heavy-duty flatbed trucks.
